The Rideau Heritage Route connects Kingston, the first Capital of a United Canada
(1841-1843), and Ottawa, Canada's current Capital. It provides visitors an amazing opportunity to
experience many historic sites, charming villages, quaint attractions and spectacular recreation areas.
The Canal is a chain of beautiful lakes covering 202 kilometers from Lake Ontario in Kingston to the
Ottawa River in Ottawa. The canal is a
true Mecca for boaters and is well marked with buoys, making it very easy to navigate. Spectators
visiting Kingston will also find it exciting to watch boats traverse through the locks at Kingston
Mills, only 3 km from The Tymparon Inn. From heritage walking tours, paddling routes, cycling
routes, hiking trails, and driving tours, there are plenty of ways to experience the impressive Rideau
Heritage Route.
