Sports and The Tymparon Inn
Zoe and Don are both advocates of fitness for life. Zoe was active in competitive swimming,
diving, tennis, field hockey, track and field, dance, gymnastics and horseback riding, as well as
stayed in shape by jogging and skiing. Don was active in competitive gymnastics, wrestling,
football, soccer, rugby, marathon running and figure skating. Recreationally, he was active in scuba
diving, skiing and horseback riding.
Today, Zoe and Don still work out regularly at the local gym and are active in ice dancing and
ballroom dancing. In addition to welcoming guests with or without sports backgrounds, we would like to
cater to guests who participate in sports while they are staying at the Inn. Our acre of
grassed lawn around the Inn is available to store, dry, fold or assemble sports equipment.
SCUBA DIVING Kingston is a mecca for scuba divers, with clear water and an abundance of wrecks.
There is plenty of space at The Tymparon Inn to dry equipment and store your gear securely overnight.
CANOEING and KAYAKING Some of our guests began kayaking the Rideau River from the Kingston end
by staying overnight at the Inn. We are able to offer our guests, at no additional charge, parking for your
vehicle until you return.
BOCCE and CROQUET Although not normally set-up, we can quickly create a challenging croquet course for
light play before dinner. Bocce Ball is also always available for our guests.
CYCLING The Tymparon Inn is situated on Highway 15, a major bicycle route. Possessing a wide
shoulder, the road is traversed daily by cyclists from Kingston heading for the north country roads. We
have two mountain bikes at the Inn for use by our guests. We can also recommend several short and several
longer bicycle excursions.
HORSESHOES If you're not into rigorous sports, you might be interested in a round of horseshoes
before you head into Kingston for dinner. We have a horseshoe pitch well away from people and cars.
SAILING Kingston is famous for its fresh-water sailing, and sailing events for the Canadian
Olympic-training Regatta, Kingston (CORK) are still held every August. Kingston is also listed by a
panel of experts among the top yacht racing venues in the USA even though Kingston is, of course, in
Canada! Sailors staying at The Tymparon Inn have used the space on the lawn to spread out their sails
for drying and folding.
SPORTS EVENTS Kingston is home to several amateur and professional sports teams. The Tymparon
Inn is five minutes away from the new Large Venue Entertainment Centre (LVEC) scheduled to open in
January of 2008 and ten minutes away from the new Multiplex Centre scheduled to open in March of 2008.
If you are coming into Kingston for a sports event, we recommend you stay with us at The Tymparon Inn.
